Skills and Training
As part of our role, we learn about a lot of training opportunities that are available for parents and carers as well as professionals. They are often free and you do not require a professional referral to access them. There will be a mixture of online and face to face opportunities, some will be training that can be added to a CV, some will be opportunities to learn new skills or further your knowledge of specific subjects.
PACE (Parent Against Child Sexual Exploitation)
This 20/30 minute e-learning course is for parents and professionals who work alongside children and young people:
- find out more about child sexual exploitation
- learn the signs and indicators of when a child might be being exploited
- understand the impact child sexual exploitation can have on families
- know what to do if you suspect a child might be at risk of this abuse

Griffin Occupational Therapy

GIRES
Working in partnership with GIRES, Surrey and Borders Partnership NHS Foundation Trust has created an e-learning resource to help professionals and families understand the needs of gender nonconforming young people. The Gender Variance e-learning programme is designed for healthcare staff of all levels and disciplines to understand how to help gender variant children, trans adolescents and their families.
The programme consists of a single e-learning session which takes around 45 minutes to complete.

Parents Protect
We have developed an online child sexual abuse and exploitation awareness learning programme for parents, carers and professionals to help:
- Understand potential risks
- Recognise the signs of possible abuse in children
- Be aware of inappropriate behaviour in adults
- Know where to go for help if you have concerns and would like to talk about them
